At Ada Vision Center our doctors are highly skilled in managing and treating eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and much more.

Did you know that macular degeneration is the leading cause of impaired reading and impaired detailed vision? This disease is caused by a breakdown of the macula, which is the central portion of the retina. Our doctors diagnose macular degeneration by using advanced ophthalmic equipment in their detailed eye exams. Comprehensive yearly eye examinations are important in detecting macular degeneration as the symptoms of the disease often go unnoticed. Early detection of macular degeneration may prevent further vision loss, since treatment is often most effective when started early.

Did you know that over 3 million Americans have glaucoma? This disease, if left untreated, will cause blurred vision, a loss of side vision, and eventually blindness. Glaucoma often develops gradually and painlessly and there are rarely early warning signs. In fact, glaucoma can slowly destroy your vision without you knowing it. At Ada Vision Center we recommend yearly eye exams so we can catch eye diseases like glaucoma and properly treat the disease so that you’ll enjoy good vision your entire life.

Did you know that diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness among adults? Approximately 25% of current diabetics have some form of the disease. The risk of developing diabetic retinopathy increases with age and the duration of diabetes. It is estimated that 90% of diabetics may experience some form of diabetic retinopathy over the course of their life. A comprehensive eye examination is the best protection against the progression of diabetic retinopathy. Our doctors can detect diabetic retinopathy by viewing the retina with instruments that illuminate and magnify the structures of the eye. Early detection and management of diabetic retinopathy is important to arrest or slow the development of the more sight damaging stages of the disease. Even when no symptoms are noticed, our doctors believe diabetics should have a dilated eye examination at least once per year. If you have not had your eyes checked in the last year, we recommend you have an eye exam to help detect the presence of diabetes or other diseases.

Did you know that when the normally clear lens within the eye becomes cloudy and opaque it is called a cataract? Cataracts cause a continuous blurring of vision and eventually require removal. Cataracts are most often found in people over the age of 55, but they are also occasionally found in younger people, including newborns. A thorough eye examination by our doctors can determine the presence of cataracts. If you have cataracts, the doctors at Ada Vision Center can help you decide when cataract surgery is right for you.
